The story begins when Mother Malkin, the queen of evil witches, escapes the pit she was imprisoned in by professional monster hunter Master Gregory, who is now a “Spook” or a roving witch hunter.
Malkin kills Master Gregory’s apprentice, so he recruits young Tom Ward, the seventh son of the seventh son, to help him in stopping Mother Malkin in her quest to conquer mankind.
“Seventh Son” is loosely based on the novel “The Spook’s Apprentice” (titled The Last Apprentice: Revenge of the Witch in the US) by Joseph Delaney.
The film earned $114 million worldwide, on a $95 million budget. It has an approval rating of 12% on review aggregator site, Rotten Tomatoes.
