Filipino drummer Brian Velasco (age 41), a member of the band Razorback since 1996, died by apparent suicide on January 16, 2019.
According to GMA News, the Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed that Brian Velasco died after falling off a condominium building.
PNP said that the guard on duty discovered the body of the deceased at around 9:45 AM on January 16, 2019 in a safety canopy at City Land Tower 1, Malate, Manila, a condominium building where Brian Velasco is a resident.
Brian Velasco wore a white polo shirt and maong pants and reportedly had multiple wounds on his legs and body.
In the incident report from the Malate Police Station, Brian Velasco’s brother Gabriel Angelo cited that the Razorback drummer was suffering from depression.
According to a report by PEP, music promoter Dudee Alfonso said Brian Velasco was able to say goodbye to his friends in a group chat prior to his death.
Brian Velasco streamed his tragic end on Facebook Live. The video has since been taken down from his account, but a more than 2 minute video is still circulating online.
In Brian Velasco’s last FB live video, it looked like he was on the ledge of the building. He was wearing his shades when he uttered his last few words. He made a semi-toast to Razorback then named a person to take care of someone important in his life, before saying he will “go”:
****, pakialagaan ninyo na lang si, si Pochito, ha? ‘Cause here I’ll go. Here I’ll go.
According to some reports, Pochito may be one of the pet dogs left behind by Brian.
Relatives and friends of the late Brian Velasco, as well as his group Razorback and artists of the Philippine music industry mourned his loss and have posted their messages online. They are also asking the public to refrain from sharing the video, which is still showing up on their feeds.
