The 2018 American superhero film “Aquaman” starring Jason Momoa and Amber Heard has grossed over $866 million worldwide as of January 3, 2019.
“Aquaman” has surpassed the all-time worldwide gross of other blockbuster movies in the DC Universe including “Wonder Woman“, “Thor: Ragnarok”, “Venom“, and “Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2.”
The movie is now #62 on the All Time Box Office list, after its release on December 21, 2018.
Directed by James Wan, “Aquaman” is expected to overtake the 2016 movie “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice”, which has earned $873.6 million worldwide.
Now showing in cinemas worldwide, “Aquaman” will face little competition as it heads into its third weekend. Sony’s “Escape Room” is the only movie with a wide release for the week, earning $2.3 million on its first day on Thursday, January 3, 2019.
