Goku, the main protagonist in the Dragon Ball anime franchise will join Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for the first time.
It will also be the first time ever that a non-Pikachu Japanese manga character will be featured as a balloon in the much-awaited annual parade.
According to Macy’s, the Goku balloon, which is presented by Animation, will be 70 foot long, 56 feet tall and 36 feet wide. There will be 90 handlers that will manage him during the parade.
Goku will be dressed up in his Super Saiyan Blue form, representing a new era in the Dragon Ball franchise.
Macy’s studio artists, in collaboration with Toei animation, designed the balloon based on drawings. They worked hard to make get the expression of Goku just right.
