American rapper Cardi B (age 25), was in a sour mood when she reportedly attacked Trinidadian-American rapper and actress Nicki Minaj (age 35) at the Harper’s Bazaar Celebrates Icons event in New York City on September 7, 2018.
According to early reports by TMZ, Cardi B approached the table of Nicki Minaj, but not really looking for a fight.
Cardi B wanted to “address the lies Nicki was spreading”, according to TMZ sources who are people connected to Cardi B.
The sources believe that the security detail of Nicki Minaj already had a plan in place in case Cardi B comes anywhere near Nicki.
So when Cardi B approached, one of Nicki Minaj’s security men could have elbowed Cardi B in her face, resulting in a big bump above her left eyebrow, according to TMZ sources.
Nicki and Cardi B had a history of dissing each other in songs and on social media. But both seemed to have made up at the Met Gala in May, 2018.
According to other eyewitnesses though, Cardi B “aggressively approached the table” of Nicki Minaj. She said, “Let me tell you something…” and lunged at Nicki, but security men stopped her.
Cardi B and Nicki Minaj Fight
A report by ET Online shows a slightly different angle of the incident.
According to an unnamed eyewitness source of ET online, the Cardi B and Nicki Minaj scuffle at the Harper’s Bazaar Icons party started around 11:30 PM, when party-goers were waiting for a Christina Aguilera performance.
The eyewitness said Cardi B waited for Nicki Minaj to come at the hallway and tried to “kick and punch” her. Cardi B even threw one of her shoes at Nicki during the fight.
A report filed by Cosmopolitan also gives another angle of the Nicki Minaj and Cardi B fight.
According to Cosmopolitan sources, Nicki Minaj was having a photo taken with Kelly Rowland and Lala Anthony when Cardi B walked by. Nicki Minaj reportedly stepped on Cardi B’s train, and that’s when the altercation began.
Cardi B then took off her red shoe and threw it at Nicki, who was by then shielded by her security men.
Cosmopolitan also wrote that contrary to reports and posts circulating online, Cardi B wasn’t fighting with Rashidah “Rah” Ali, an American TV personality who is a friend of Nicki Minaj.
Some websites and social media posts said it was Rah Ali that Cardi B attacked, not Nicki Minaj.
In a 16 second video posted by @mihaeladxl, which has now gained 1.83 million views, Nicki Minaj can hardly be seen, and people are commenting Cardi B was actually fighting with Rah Ali.
