Right then and there, it was instantly viral and immediately went to the top of the YouTube Trending list.
The ‘Idol’ music video gained 27 million views on YouTube in only about 8 hours of its release. Then it gained over 56 million views in 24 hours. At the time of this writing, ‘Idol’ music video has 68.4 million views.
BTS’s ‘Idol’ broke Taylor Swift’s record for ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ music video which gained the most views on YouTube within 24 hours (24-hour YouTube debut record) having over 43 million views in its first 24 hours on YouTube.
The song ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ was released during the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards.
